Sample Chapter For CAUTION: RAW PASSION by Bonnie Clarke “I thought I was supposed to make fifty copies of this form?” Kim repeated for the third time. “I don’t know,” Karen mumbled, brushing her perfectly manicured nails through her hair. “What’s your opinion then?” Kim’s gaze followed Karen’s, finally stopping at the office stud across the room. She knew it. The woman was in heat over him, again. Kim returned to the setting panel on the copier, not quite sure what buttons to push since it was only her second or third time using the damn thing. “Seven or eight?” “More like nine.” She sighed. “What?” Kim looked up at her. “That’s not the code. It’ll never go through.” “You wouldn’t believe how well it’ll go…what?” Karen looked back at Kim, obviously confused. “What are you talking about?” “What are you talking about?” Kim teased, stacking the paper into the machine. “Never mind, I remember the code. When are you going to stop pining over that asshole? All he thinks about is himself and his latest mounting. You want to be one of the girls he uses?” Karen turned her back to the object of their conversation, leaning closer to whisper something. “Word has it he’s interested in somebody, and not for a quick lay. He hasn’t been with any of the girls for over a week. Nobody knows who he’s after, but whoever the lucky bitch is, I hope he leaves her on the curb.” “I take it you want him for yourself, then?” “Maybe I do. It’s been a while since I was seriously fucked. Somebody like him would be good for me. A good bang and see ya later!” Karen’s ear-piercing laugh carried through the room, making several heads turn, including the stud she spoke of. “Shh! Everybody’s looking at us, you idiot.” Kim blushed, keeping her eyes on Karen, but now that she thought about it, Wayne was a heart-stopper. Quickly, she dared a glance in his direction. “What, is the conversation making you hot?” Karen winked at Kim. “No.” “Ah…I see. You want him too, don’t you, Kimmy? Well, you better get in line. The whole office has had some and wants more. Besides the guys, of course. He doesn’t go that way, although I bet there are a few boys who would like him to.” Kim set out copying the papers whether they were needed or not. Karen’s blatant sex talk bothered her. Over a beer, sure, but not at work, and not when the guy was only a few paces away. She glanced over him when somebody approached Karen and started a conversation which wasn’t too far off what they were just speaking of. God, that chick never knew when to shut up. Wayne had to be at least six foot four, maybe more. Tall and lean. She wondered how he looked beneath the tailored suits. Rakish black hair made her think he just woke up, and the lazy way he stood there, without a care in the world, oddly enough, made her blood simmer. Women overreacted on things like style and manners and gossip, when men like Wayne couldn’t care less. That in itself was a turn-on. She closed her eyes for a second, imagining her fingers wrapped in that fabulous mass of unruly hair and yanking his head down to her… “Hello, Kim. Please have those papers completed by the end of the day. I’d also like to speak to you in my office.” Kim opened her eyes, suddenly catching Wayne’s. Shit, she wondered if he could read her mind, if he knew the look on her face reflected the image of him on his knees burying his face between her legs. Her cheeks warmed to the thought. “Uh, yes. Yes, of course.” He quickly brushed past. Several heads turned and hers was one of them. How could one man do such damage to a room full of women? She couldn’t blame her reaction as jealousy, but maybe envy. Kim wished she had that kind of attention. If only for one day. “Hey, Kim. Did I tell you about that new shop down the street called Wicked Woman? It’s awesome. Toys, books, magazines, outfits. They have everything. You should go there at lunch.” “I can’t go to a sex shop at lunch!” “Oh yes you can, and you will. Come on, you’re a single woman with nothing to lose. Go to the store, you’ll be glad you did.” Karen squeezed her shoulder and headed toward her office. Kim looked at the big clock in the main room. It was almost noon. Before leaving the office, she grabbed her paperwork, and headed out. She couldn’t help glancing into Wayne’s office on her way past, catching him reading a report, but before she turned the corner, he looked up and caught her watching, and the odd look he gave her made Kim pick up her pace. |
