© 2008, Roxanne Springer Reviews For SUPERSTAR by Roxanne Springer Superstar is an exciting and realistic. Roxanne Springer's writing style imbues the plot with fluid descriptions and a thorough accounting of what the characters do and how they feel. The plot itself was a fresh glimpse into a subject matter than I have not seen in erotic romance, professional wrestling. I loved how the mystery of wrestling is revealed, along with the depiction of the family bonds between the characters. Sexuality is expressed with passion, with just enough sex scenes to make me look forward to each while not overpowering the plot with too much sex. Overall, I truly enjoyed this accounting of two people falling in love with an insider's look into the wrestling circuit. Assuming readers enjoy detailed writing, I would recommend this book.
Francesca Hayne Eric is one of the sweetest heroes I
have read about in a long time. He is funny, sexy, and has all the right
moves, especially when it comes to Nikki. Nikki seems to be a bit innocent
in her thinking, which I was ready to be bored with. But, Roxanne Springer
proved me wrong. Nikki is a great balance to Eric. And how can I not
go crazy about the super hot sex scenes between these two? Eric treats
Nikki as if she's gold and is not afraid to show his affections in public
and especially when they are alone. Kate Garrabrant Wrestling? A sport that not many people are crazy about and think is fake. Yet there is one author who loves it; one who is not only talented but also has a great imagination. Her name is Roxanne Springer and she has created a fabulous book about pro wrestling. Roxanne did a great job with Eric showing us that he is not your usual wrestler. The world of wrestling is dangerous but Roxanne made this world come to life. The whole good and bad wrestler never got boring or lacked. It was interesting to see how Nikki handled the sport and craziness of wrestling drama. The matches were awesome! As a fan of wrestling I have to say this book is beautifully done and applaud Roxanne for bringing this sport to light especially the behind the scenes background. Rating: 5 Roses and a Recommended Read Award Superstar is really an astounding romance story. It
offers a surprising overview of the misjudged universe of wrestling.
Congratulations go to Roxanne Springer and her incredible talent for
sharing her understanding of the extraordinary wrestling universe. Discovering
this world made me realize that wrestlers are people like everyone else
even if most of the time they were doing their best to appear dangerous.
Maybe this is the reason why I lately couldn't help to look for broadcasts
of wrestling shows. 4 and ½ dollops from Sunflower at Whipped Cream Erotic Romance Reviews Sample Chapter For SUPERSTAR by Roxanne Springer “You’re still coming to my birthday party, aren’t you?” “Of course I am,” Nikki Curtis assured her dear friend Jenna Morton for what seemed to be the hundredth time. “I’ll be there no matter what.” “My husband printed out directions
from the Internet. You sure you don’t mind traveling all that
way?” “You can meet my twin brother Stan and his wife Yvonne. You’ll love Yvonne; she knows lots of people. My guess is she has invited about two hundred people even though Stan and I both asked her to take it easy with the guest list.” Nikki was amused. It was as if her cherished friend thought she had to convince her to go. Nikki and Jenna had quickly become good friends when they met while working at the same Plainfield, New Hampshire hospital six years before. Though they both lived and worked in New Hampshire the party was being held in Jonesboro, Massachusetts. That was where the bulk of Jenna’s family lived and she traveled the two hours each way to visit them often. “I’m looking forward to your party,” Nikki said again as she and her friend sat next to each other and filled out their patients’ charts. “You really will have fun, I promise,” Jenna said one last time before she gathered up the chart she had been working on and put it back in the rack. “I will be there. You can count on it.” When she left the desk and went down the hall to begin her rounds a short while later Nikki thought kindly of her closest friend. She had recently been through a very ugly divorce and it had been Jenna and her husband who had been a constant source of support. They had taken her under their collective wings and done all they could to keep her from feeling depressed, lonely, and miserable. She was grateful to them both, but Nikki was aware there would always be times when the pain of her husband’s betrayal would creep into her heart and make her somewhat despondent. Nikki had married Tom Curtis straight out of nursing school and had worked many long hours to help pay for his education. He was going to be a physician, and once they both had stable careers they would start a family. The night before their two-year anniversary
she had traded a shift with Jenna so she could go home early and surprise
Tom with a take out meal from his favorite restaurant. When she made
her entrance she had not only surprised him but also the female classmate
he had been with in bed. After having flung the Italian food she had
purchased at them she tearfully ran from the house and drove straight
back to the hospital. Tom had called Nikki’s cell phone at least a dozen times before she finally just shut it off. She had nothing to say to him. What he had done was the lowest and most despicable thing a husband could possibly do to a wife. She and Darren talked the entire time until Jenna arrived, and Nikki could not help but burst into tears when she saw the pity in her friend’s eyes. “You will stay here with us,” Darren declared in his usual caring tone as Jenna nodded in agreement. “Get a cop to go with you tomorrow to get your stuff.” “Thank you,” Nikki said with deep gratitude as she clung to their hands. “We’ll be with you through all of it,” Jenna said with an affectionate smile. “You better go for the house and everything else you can get from that bastard!” The divorce had been long and emotionally trying, but Nikki had refused to let her husband’s lack of morality and decency ruin her life. She stayed with her friends for only a few months before finding herself a nice apartment. She moved in quickly though they begged her to remain with them. “I’ll be fine,” she assured them as she put some clothes and books into her car. “I need to prove to myself that I can make it on my own.” “Wait another two weeks until the divorce is final,” Jenna pleaded as she stood by the door of Nikki’s green sedan. “That will give you time enough to make sure this is really what you want to do.” “I already know this is what I
want to do, Jenna. I need to be on my own for once. The apartment is
only a mile away from here, and I’m only living there until I
think it’s safe to move back to my house.” “You can call me every night we don’t work together, okay?” “If I don’t, Darren will!” Nikki started her car and then beeped the horn twice and waved as she backed out of the driveway. She felt wonderful and vibrantly alive as she drove the short way to her new residence. Within the first month she had it decorated in all her favorite colors and on the day her divorce became final she had Jenna and Darren over for a celebratory supper. They all visited and caught up on things as they enjoyed the hearty lasagna and flavorful garlic bread Nikki had prepared. “So what have you been doing with your nights? Jenna tells me that one of the doctors has big eyes for you.” “I’ll pass on the doctor; I’m not ready to start seeing anyone. I’ve started watching wrestling lately. It’s a lot of fun.” “Professional wrestling?” Jenna asked with genuine surprise. “I’ve never known you to like anything like that.” “I couldn’t sleep the first night I moved in here, so I got up and started flipping through the channels. I happened on to it and found it to be very entertaining. I really like that one guy Eric Conrad, he’s pretty hot.” “Those guys all take steroids,” Darren scoffed. “That’s why they look like they do; they’re nothing but a bunch of drug addicts.” “Actually the National Wrestling League just started a policy to maintain the health of their wrestlers. Any performers that test positive for any drugs or steroids get heavily fined and barred from competing. Not only that, the NWL is in reality a great organization, they have been donating both money and time to children’s charities and other humanitarian causes for many years.” “You’re really into this stuff,” Jenna commented with a look of amazement. “Well, it’s good to know they are cleaning it up at least. Don’t you find their antics a little over the top?” Darren asked. “It’s really quite captivating if you sit and watch it; those guys do a tremendous job of entertaining the crowd. Besides all that, it’s a bunch of good-looking men in tight pants; so what’s not to love about it?” Nikki joked as they continued on with their meal. “My sister-in-law Yvonne is going to be throwing a big birthday party for me and my twin brother Stan. It’s in the banquet room of a good steakhouse she knows, so there will be a ton of great food, dancing, and a cash bar. I’d really like you to be there. Don’t let what happened ruin your life.” “Of course I’ll go, as long as you both promise not to set me up with somebody,” Jenna said. “Not even Dr. Wheeler?” “Not even Dr. Wheeler,” Nikki said with conviction. “Tom hurt me so badly I really don’t care if I have another relationship for a very long time.” Everyone went silent, and then both Jenna and Nikki amused Darren with stories and anecdotes from their work in the hospital. Nikki sighed deeply and then brought her mind back to the present as she stood before her first patient’s room. She would gladly drive the two hours to her friend’s party; she would drive eight hours if necessary. Jenna and Darren had helped her through the toughest time in her life and there was no way she was going to disappoint either of them. |
